Olympic Weightlifting refers to the style of lifting where athletes lift a barbell from the ground to overhead in one of two ways:

    • The Snatch, where the lift is executed in one movement, and

    • The Clean and Jerk, where the barbell travels from the ground to the lifter’s shoulders, and then from the shoulders to overhead.

Detroit Weightlifting’s only membership requirement is that you have some experience (Crossfit, high-school sports, The Olympics, etc.) with the Snatch and Clean and Jerk.

Unfortunately, we are not able to work with inexperienced lifters at this time.
